Yardi Operations Manager for a Commercial Real Estate Asset Manager
The Challenge
The client was experiencing high growth due to acquisitions across the UK and Europe.
It was a newly created role, to come in and help support the Property Operations Team across the UK & Europe, to drive efficiencies across the portfolio, and set up best practices within reporting and using Yardi in general.
The client was looking for someone who had strong experience within the UK and European Markets and that had a background in leading change initiatives within Real Estate systems.
The client was looking for the following:
- Experience in the commercial real estate sector, with a strong understanding of asset management and property management practices.
- Proficiency in Yardi Voyager.
- Strong analytical skills to interpret data and convey insights with commercial relevance.
- Ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously while maintaining high standards of quality and attention to detail.
- Proven experience in delivering effective training sessions across different jurisdictions, with the capability to manage and engage participants.
The Solution
Cobalt was best suited as we had successfully partnered with the business for a number of years, giving us a fantastic understanding of the business's needs and culture, so we knew how to promote them and who we should promote them to.
We would target candidates that had experience within the commercial sector and that had experience working across jurisdictions leading process change and seeing efficiencies across systems and operations. This was key for the role as it would essentially be someone who was a Subject Matter Expert that understood different reporting mechanisms and legislations, which were not just UK-focused.
The process involved collating a longlist which took just over a week, where we met and spoke with candidates to assess their technical skillsets, and their background in terms of culture and proficiency for working with partners in multiple jurisdictions.
After the Longlist, we presented a shortlist of 5 candidates, where 3 were chosen to be invited in to interview with the client.
The interview would be in 3 stages - a 1st meeting with the Hiring Manager, a 2nd a 2 hour excel test, and the final meeting with 2 senior stakeholders who would be working closely with the successful candidate.
The Results
At the end of these interviews and a 3-week process from first contact with the candidates, the client chose their preferred candidate
This candidate was well-known to us as someone we’d previously supported on an FTC in a similar capacity for another commercial asset manager in the past. They had worked for Investment Managers and FTSE 250 Listed Real Estate Business which made them the right culture fit and were supported by a proven track record of looking at efficiencies and process improvement within bespoke real estate systems.
