Job Title - Estimator
Projects - Major Highways
Salary - up to £70,000 plus an excellent package
The Client / Role

Role Purpose:
Support the Managing & Senior Estimators in developing estimates from 1st Principles for the civil portions of multi-disciplined Highways Projects at various stages.
Collaborate with the team in developing the price.
Assist senior team members in presenting, negotiating, and justifying prices openly and honestly to both senior leaders within the business and external customers/partners.
Key Responsibilities:
Undertake estimates in accordance with the company's policies and procedures.
Review customer drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour, and equipment.
Oversee and/or interrogate design options and 'value' solutions, identifying the attractiveness of a project based on sound estimating principles.
Record assumptions, identify risks and opportunities, and support the development of risk evaluation from a pricing/budgetary perspective.
Liaise with the project team and supply chain to develop and understand proposed methodologies and principles.
What You'll Be Doing:
Lead small/medium-sized bids to ensure timely and effective production of tender deliverables.
Support and/or interrogate design options and 'value' solutions, identifying the project's attractiveness based on sound estimating principles. Activities include:
Review drawings and specifications to prepare accurate costing sheets for materials, labour, and equipment.
Ensure compliance with the company's procedures, including the pre-construction gate process.
Review tender documents and submission requirements, ensuring all financial information is identified and provided, and accurate compliant design proposals are included.
Establish and agree on key rates.
Collaborate with engineering and planning on key methods, outputs, and plant selection.
Conduct detailed analysis of subcontractors' analysis.
Working Arrangements:
Our clients offer's a hybrid working approach (minimum 3 days per week in the office). They have offices in Dartford, Leatherhead, and South Mimms, and are flexible regarding your office location.
Who We're Looking For:
Background in Infrastructure Main Contracting.
Previous experience in an estimating role; commercial or operational background considered.
Working towards or chartered with a relevant industry-recognized chartership (e.g., ICE, CICES, RICS, CIOB) is desirable.
Experienced in using Candy Estimating Software (desirable but not essential).
Strong financial acumen with the ability to analyze complex data and documentation accurately.
Proficient in general IT applications (e.g., Word and Excel).
