Our Climate Commitments
Cobalt’s Climate Commitment
Carbon neutral since 2023/Net Zero by 2030
Cobalt Consulting (UK) is committed to achieving net zero emissions by 2030, aligning with the Mayor of London's ambitious climate goals. We recognise the urgency of addressing the climate emergency and have set an accelerated timeline to minimise our impact.
To meet this target, we are actively measuring and managing our carbon footprint. Using 2023 as our baseline year, we recorded total emissions of 229.7tCO2e – approximately 220.2tCO2e of which was arising from Scope 3 (supply chain) emissions.
We measure our carbon footprint annually in March for the proceeding year, so our 2024 figures will be available in Q2 2025. From this, we can offset carbon emissions and help our clients and candidates understand what impact they have by using our services.
Carbon Reduction Plan
Our Carbon Reduction Plan (CRP) focuses on three key areas to minimise our carbon footprint:
Sustainable Purchasing: As an office-based service provider, our emissions primarily stem from purchased goods and services, staff commuting, and business travel, rather than the production or transportation of physical goods. We have implemented a sustainable purchasing policy to prioritise environmentally responsible goods and services.
Staff Initiatives: Staff events, including socials and parties, significantly contribute to our emissions due to transportation, accommodation, and consumption of food and beverages. To address this, we have adopted a policy that emphasises selecting event suppliers with strong sustainability credentials.
Supplier Engagement: A significant portion of our emissions is tied to spending with major suppliers. We are actively collaborating with them to understand their environmental impact and identify opportunities for reduction.
Staff Training & Awareness: To further embed our net zero goals into the company culture, we have engaged our staff with training programs and awareness campaigns. This includes learning sessions that focus on the importance of sustainability and provide practical advice on reducing carbon footprints both at work and at home. We have also integrated sustainability modules into our onboarding process to ensure that new hires understand our environmental commitments from day one.
