Job Title: Temporary Works Engineer
Location: Bristol / Leeds / London
Contract Type: Permanent
Salary: £50,000 / £70,000 Plus an excellent package
About the Role:
We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Temporary Works Engineer to join our clients dynamic team. They have opportunities all around the UK and as a key member of their engineering department, you will play a crucial role in ensuring the safe and effective design, management, and coordination of temporary works for a wide range of construction projects including Rail, Energy, Infrastructure, Commercial and Residential. This position offers a unique opportunity to contribute to high-profile projects while working closely with site teams, design engineers, and project managers.
Key Responsibilities:
Design and implement temporary works solutions, ensuring compliance with project specifications and health and safety regulations.
Conduct site inspections to monitor the installation, use, and removal of temporary works.
Prepare risk assessments, method statements, and temporary works design briefs.
Provide technical support and advice to project teams, contractors, and site supervisors.
Collaborate with permanent works designers and construction teams to ensure seamless integration of temporary and permanent works.
Ensure that all temporary works designs are checked and approved in accordance with company procedures.
Liaise with external consultants, contractors, and regulatory bodies as required.
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of relevant standards, legislation, and industry best practices.
Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Chartered Engineer status or working towards it (ICE or similar institution) is preferred.
Proven experience in the design and management of temporary works in construction, particularly within infrastructure, commercial, residential
Strong understanding of current temporary works regulations and standards (e.g., BS 5975).
Excellent problem-solving skills, with the ability to work under pressure and meet tight deadlines.
Proficiency in relevant design software such as AutoCAD, Tekla, or similar.
Strong communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to liaise effectively with multidisciplinary teams.
Ability to undertake site visits and travel as required.
