Cobalt is thrilled to announce that we are supporting a prestigious property organisation with an exciting project on an exclusive basis. This leading real estate business manages a diverse portfolio of assets, from iconic retail spaces to unique residential properties all with a commitment to sustainability and community engagement.
Due to an expansion within the business, our client are seeking a Service Charge Accountant to join their team looking after a residential portfolio. This role is working 9am - 5pm, Monday to Friday and offers 2 days working from home. We are looking for Service Charge Accountants who are free from November.
Responsibilities -
Manage service charge operations for a designated portfolio of assets.
Build strong working relationships with asset, property, and facilities managers, as well as management accountants, ensuring alignment and integration of all aspects affecting service charge management.
Conduct comprehensive reviews of background information and system reports to thoroughly assess income and expense transactions for the relevant service charge period(s).
Handle adjustments, accruals, and prepayments within the property management system.
Submit accounts for audit and respond to audit inquiries.
Prepare draft balance sheets for review by auditors and management accountants.
Requirements -
Experience in a Service Charge Accountant or advisory role
Familiarity with both commercial and residential property types.
Proficient in using property management systems, preferably Horizon.
Highly knowledgeable in the RICS Service Charge Code and Professional Statement requirements, as well as relevant case law and legal precedents.
